Phlebotomy Program Description
The program introduces to students basic medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Students learn about OSHA regulations, HIPAA, safety concerns, and protocols that all phlebotomists need to adhere to. Students are taught various blood collection techniques, including; heel sticks, finger sticks, skin punctures, capillary draws, culture, and fluid collection. Students are trained in contagions and infection control. Students also learn about quality specimen techniques.

EXTERNSHIP is optional for students but strongly encouraged for those with no clinical background. Students should perform 50 venipuncture's and 10 dermal punctures. Externship guaranteed at Primary and Urgent Care.

CREDENTIAL TO BE AWARDED: National Certified Phlebotomy Technician after successfully passing the national certification exam.

School Attire is black scrubs and closed-toed shoes. (scrubs not included in tuition price)

Students may schedule an appointment for tutoring or academic advising as needed throughout the five-week course. The instructor and institution creates a supportive atmosphere to help students address academic, professional, and personal needs to guide students through the program successfully.

Vital Phlebotomy Institute ensures interaction between students and faculty and among students by integrating a variety of educational methods and interpersonal communication to ensure a successful learning environment. Small class sizes are essential to understand every student's learning style when developing comprehensive student-faculty interactions. Four types of learning styles are used to teach the program: visual, audio, read/write, and kinesthetic.
