
IV Therapy Training Description
Our IV training program is designed to provide healthcare professionals with hands-on skills and knowledge needed to safely and effectively perform IV insertions in a clinical setting. This training focuses on proper technique, patient safety, and compliance with OSHA standards.
Upon completion of this program, you should be able to:

Understand and follow OSHA and bloodborne pathogen guidelines

Stabilize the vein for IV access

Anchor while maintaining sterility

Insert a needle at a 35–40 degree angle appropriately

Stabilize the stylette and slide the catheter off until the hub touches the skin

Attach a syringe and draw a venous blood sample if ordered, maintaining sterility

Remove the protective cap from the IV and attach it securely to the catheter hub

Release the tourniquet safely

Open the flow clamp and begin infusion

Secure IV tubing and catheter in place

Adjust flow rate as appropriate

Assess for signs of infiltration
-
Monitor the patient for therapeutic response or signs of unwanted reactions.
Credential Upon Completion: Diploma of Completion

In Virginia, IV “certifications” are not recognized in this state. This course is for educational training ONLY. Always confirm with your state’s Board of Nursing for legal practice guidelines.
*A $200 deposit is required for registration due to limited seats.

* The $200 deposit that is required goes toward the tuition remaining balance of $550, which is due on the first day of class.
